After being stagnant for a long period of time, the Visa Bulletin for June 2007 had a big leap compared to last month. The Cut-off date for all chargeability areas (including Korea) except China, India, Mexico and Philippines has moved forward significantly in EB-3 immigration category, compared with last month. It moved from August 3rd 2003 to June 1st 2005, almost a 2-years leap. In addition, Cut-off dates for EB-1 and EB-2 for Korean applicants remain Current this month again.

The progress of visa bulletin will benefit a lot of Koreans who want to submit adjustment of status petitions in EB-3. This means that if a person’s priority date is before June 1st, 2005, s/he can submit his/her I-485 adjustment applications, or concurrently file I-140 & I-485 petitions in June 2007. This also means it would be very helpful for people to file PERM as soon as possible to get an early priority date. If there appears another big leap in EB-3 visa bulletin in the coming future, the applicant may submit the adjustment of status petition soon. If you file PERM now, when it is approved a few months later, the Cut-off Date for EB-3 might become “Current”. Then, you may file I-140 and I-485 concurrently. Even if the situation is not that optimistic, we anticipate the waiting time won’t be as long as before.
