The company manufactures large lithium-ion polymer batteries for electric vehicle (EV) and energy storage applications. The company is part of the LG Group, a South Korean company that has global operations focused on petrochemical products, information/electronic materials, and energy solutions.
Position Overview
Under limited supervision of the Treasurer/Controller, the Sr. Accountant performs professional accounting work including: corporate tax review, internal auditing, analyzing and verifying fiscal records and reports, preparing financial and statistical reports, providing information to the company staff regarding accounting practices and procedures, reconciling general ledger accounts, assists in preparing annual and mid-year budgets, and prepares year-end audit reports and schedules.
Responsibilities
• Support and review the work of our accounting firm for all tax related matters.
• Lead person on all tax or governmental reporting (mostly city and state reporting)
• Prepare journal entries and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts; assists in preparing monthly financial statement, including distributing monthly revenue and expenditure reports to departments
• Ensure the accuracy of the balance sheet and income statement by performing various account analysis and account reconciliations.
• Prepare Company’s consolidated financial statements and financial package on a quarterly basis.
• Prepare audit schedules for external auditors and acts as a liaison between the company and auditors
• Develop and oversee maintenance in daily, weekly, monthly reporting to support key management metrics
• Track, maintain, and oversee the accuracy of the standard costing model that is currently in place at the Company.
• Compile gross margin reports and perform margin/variance analysis on a monthly basis
• Report positive and negative variance findings to management and others as appropriate. Identify opportunities for margin improvements.
• Assist with the preparation of the annual and mid-year budgets
• Assist with monthly inventory counting and annual fixed asset accounting
• Provide training in the use of the the company’s accounting system (SAP) and assists departmental personnel with budget questions, proper expenditure coding, document processing and other accounting related activities
• Actively seek opportunities to learn about and drive “Lean” concepts and continuous improvement activity across the organization.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature or levelRequirements
• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university with emphasis in accounting
• Bilingual in Korean and English required
• Minimum of 5 years’ in public accounting or similar experience
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); CPA Preferred
• Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.)
• Experience with ERP Systems (SAP) a plus, but not required
