Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Thomson is developing Set Top Boxes (STB) for the US Cable Industry. The candidate will be tasked to design, develop, and maintain software for US Cable STB. This work involves both QAM and IP set-top boxes architectures.The candidate will:
• Determine functional requirements and prepare supporting design specification documents.
• Design, develop, and test modules and applications that meet or exceed the functional requirements.
• Participate in Design and Code Reviews.
• Develop and maintain SW work products in accordance with the established SW development process and the applicable project standards and methodologies.
• Perform testing with technical peers and functional end users to ensure successful launch of development projects.
• Provide adequate and timely weekly status reporting on assigned tasksNote: Only applications with the Requisition Number included in the subject line will be considered for this opening.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline (Masters preferred).EXPERIENCE:
• 3-5 years minimum experience as a C/C++ software engineer. Java experience a plus.
• Experience with network protocols including TCP/IP, SNMP, DHCP, IGMP. Familiarity with network (socket) programming.
• Experience with Linux OS or WinCE. Good understanding of real-time operating system concepts. RTOS development experience a plus.
• Experience integrating with 3rd party APIs, services, and libraries.
• Experience with home networking technologies a plus (e.g. MoCA, DLNA, etc.)
• Self-starter, detail oriented, and ability to work under pressure and short timelines.
• Team player with strong interpersonal, written and verbal skills.
• Knowledge of digital video technologies (MPEG-2 & MPEG-4 codecs, MPEG2 transport) a plus.
• Experience with Cable system technologies is a plus.
