Don’t do it. Just follow what your manual says.
I’ve been using mobil 1 for many years but I don’t anymore. There’s no real benefit I can confirm. All I got is some comfort in mind (plus expensive receipt).
Don’t trust any extended stuff from them. READ the label on the bottle carefully. Do they guarantee that your engine won’t fail? Will they compensate if their product does not live up to what they claim??? The answer is NO. They claim that you can use their oil for extended period of time but if it fails, they won’t give you a shit.

Just use any cheap mineral oil and replace it at every 5000mi (if your manual says so).

Camry is not a sports car nor have high performance engine. You DO NOT need synthetic oil with it.

I thought you can’t go back to mineral once you start using synthetic. If that is the case, he can’t go back to cheap mineral oil, can he?

I don’t use “extended perf” but the regular synthetic one. The price different seems a little over a dollar per quart. I get 6 qt of regular mobil 1 for about $40.

I have a 2001 Volvo with the turbo I5 engine. It almost hit 80K miles, but at this point I drive less than 5K miles a year. Nevertheless I try to change the oil every 4-5 month. It doesn’t cost too much ($40 oil, $10 filter) and takes only about 20 minutes. I got so used to the process that I don’t even need to jack up the car to reach the filter.

If it’s turbo, synthetic oil might make sense.
And you are partially right. If the engine is too old, you shouldn’t use synthetic oil. It will leak.
If the engine is new, you can use synthetic, but can’t go back to mineral oil.

The original poster’s engine is old. So If he has not been using synthetic oil from early, he shouldn’t use synthetic. If he already did (But not early), he still should go back to mineral.

it doesnt really matter whether the car is turboed or not.
some n/a vehicles now have high compression with high-cams
      and requires synthetics.

i recommend amsoil 2000 series with thicker weight on the oils.
      like…. at least 5w-40s
