Electronics Technician or Engineer
Job DescriptionSummary:
This position is responsible for inspecting printed circuit boards (PCBs), testing them following detailed procedures and specifications, determining reasons for failures and correcting the problems, using approved procedures and methods.
Next, boards are installed as a final assembly which will undergo additional testing following detailed procedures and specifications, determining reasons for failures and correcting the problems, using approved procedures and methods.
Finally, assemblies are integrated into a system, which must also be tested as indicated previously.Job Duties & Responsibilities:
* Review documentation for the PCB/assembly/system including engineering specifications and procedures.
* Inspect the PCB/assembly/system for obvious defects, pointing out problem areas to area Team Leader.
* Following engineering procedures and established work methods, test the PCB/assembly/system to determine if it will meet the required specifications. If not, determine the reason for the failure and if practical, correct the problem.
* Fill out documentation with the information found during testing, both during the failure mode and the final results.
* Working with the area Team Leader and the appropriate Manufacturing Engineer, suggest improvements in the process which will improve the quality of the PCB/assembly/system, improve the reliability of the testing or reduce the time required to run the tests.
* Keep work area organized and work in a safe manner.
* Additional tasks may be required as neededEducation:
* High School Diploma or GED required.
* Associates degree or equivalent qualification in Electronics required.Experience:
* Minimum 2 years electronics test experience.
* Prior experience with soldering and use of hand-tools is preferred, but not required.Knowledge, skills and abilities:
* Knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
* Ability to troubleshoot PCB’s to the component level using common electronics shop tools such as oscilloscope and DVM (not using automated testers).
* Able to work effectively as part of a team.
* Able to follow procedures and understand electronic schematics, engineering drawings, and specifications.
* Able to read and write English fluently.
* Must have a current valid driver’s license.Work Conditions:
Overtime will be required as needed. Work will be performed in a shop environment, but may include limited travel. Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.
