According to USCIS FAQ on July 27, if an I-140 is e-filed by July 31, the applicant will be eligible to reserve July priority date and the applicant and its family members will be eligible to file I-485 at any time before August 18. After efiling, an applicant is allowed 7 business days to deliver the supporting package to USICS. Therefore, if you can e-file from now (July 27) to July 31, you have a full week to prepare the supporting documents to send in the I-140 package and also reserve the eligibility to file your I-485 before August 18. This offers tremendous benefits for those falling behind the schedule in preparing the recommendation letters and petition letters. Please remember, for I-140 filing, if you e-file on July 30 or later, new filing fee ($475) applies. I-485 filing fee will remain unchanged until August 17.
