Title: Technical Applications Engineer – Mobile Apps, Web & Telematics
Salary Range: $80k – $120k
Location: Irvine, CA
Job Purpose Summary:
Lead the software subsystem engineers to develop and deliver production apps in Android, iPhone and Blackberry SDK environments. A passion for and understanding of telematics and internet connected applications is necessary.
The ideal candidate will take a technical leadership position in automotive delivery, in coordination with local and off-shore delivery teams. In addition to the main delivery responsibility, the principal architect will engage closely with customers, support technical bids and estimation, define solution architectures, advise on technical strategy and drive knowledge build-up across the company.
Clarification: Company is focused on the Telematics and HMI / Infotainment spaces – NOT working with automotive related software such as engine control, brake controls etc.
1. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• App concept feasibility assessment
• Apps system development
• App Proxy management
• Supplier management
• Corner case & FMEA creation
• Rapid prototype development
2. Interfaces
• Staff, customers, products, equipment.
3. Requirements for this role
Formal education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent
Required experiences:
• 3+ years developing embedded and/or application software.
• 2+ years experience in leading development of Web and Apps Software and Telematics
• Utilized SDKs to implement production apps in Android, iPhone and Blackberry environments
• Passion for telematics and internet based applications
• Highly capable in using IBM requirements tools – DOORS, Rhapsody
• Technically astute in cellular and server based hardware & software
• Ability to lead piers and suppliers to achieve goals
• Pleasantly aggressive personality, self motivated, organized
• Clear, concise, precise communication skills both oral and written
• Comfortable when working in a loosely defined role

• Strong leadership skills with ability to mentor and motivate team members
• Due to the growth nature of the business, a very high level of energy and commitment and a strong focus on immediate output is expected.
