Department Description:
Key member of a small, highly focused and integrated team dedicated to the development of a highly innovative technology. Individual contributer position responsible for detailed engineering development involved with the design and supply of electronic sub-systems and sub-assemblies. Responsibilities will include the testing and evaluation of these components and their integration with the rest of the system. Capable of designing, developing, testing and debugging electronic systems to enable decoding and addressing of format and control of servo / mechanical sub-assemblies and integration of these with the entire system. Assignments are objective-oriented.
Brief Description:
Evaluates reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, mechanical systems, equipment and packaging, optical systems and/or DSP systems.Detailed Description:
Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical components, assemblies or integrated circuitry for hardware systems for the external market. Includes new design, as well as modification activities that results in significant product enhancement. Activities encompass design, analysis, testing and process development using engineering principles and methods. Technical disciplines may include electrical and logical design of printed circuit boards or integrated circuits; mechanical design of electronics enclosures or integrated circuit packaging; and embedded software/firmware design.Job Requirements:
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of engineering or related experience.Additional Details:
Experience/Education: BS in one of the Physical Sciences / Engineering plus 10+ years; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience; OR a Master’s degree plus 8 years relevant experience. Must be fluent with current state of the data storage technologies.
Skills & Competencies: Plays a leading role in the development, and supply, of components to meet the requirements of the project team, and acts in support of one or more parallel groups. Demonstrates outstanding technical knowledge and expertise, and has the capability to apply this to highly complex, multi-faceted engineering assignments within the specific discipline. Capable of working very effectively with internal groups, and external vendors, to deliver shared goals in a timely fashion. Has ability to participate in execution of strategic plans and objectives.
