Researchers have discovered the leading cause of divorce is marriage. Several members of the US Congress, won their election based on their promises to reduce the divorce rate if they were elected. In keeping their campaign promises in their goal to reduce the divorce rate in this country, have declared that if we start outlawing marriage, divorce rates will lower as a result. If people can’t get married, that means that they can’t get divorced.

In other congressional news, both houses of Congress finished a marathon debate with no resolution, and have said they will have to wait for the Next Congressional session to resume the debate that has plagued the Earth since the “dawn of man” and hope to reach a compromise in the “Did You Fart/Whoever smelt it, dealt it” debate.

I have to agree with power4things. The members of Congress are more intent on arguing over whether gay and lesbian folks should have the right to get married. In an odd turn of events, the Republicans are arguing in favor of gays and lesbians being happy by denying them the pain and suffering that goes with getting married and the consequences that follow when that act implodes. Democrats are just taking the money of lobbyists for the lawyers who are looking to expand their book of business by ensuring that everyone’s pocket can be picked.

If you must divorce then do it without a lawyer. The lawyer will take you to the cleaners everytime. The lawyer desires that you fight and make things difficult for the other person. You provoke the other person, then his/her lawyer has to retaliate and the battle goes on until both spouses are bloodied financially and both lawyers walk away smiling and much richer because you were to stupid to realize you were a chump for the lawyers.

Why do people even marry these days? It is mathematically stupid to do so. You are now more likely to divorce than stay married. There is no longer such things as commitment, or a willingness to truly give it your all. I’m a firm Christian and I bet that gay unions end up with a far lesser rate of divorce because the two people have had to battle through a lot to get married and overcome prejudices. They know how to fight for their love. I never thought Id say anything like that or this, but wouldn’t it be hilarious if these same gender marriages taught us snobby Christians (myself include) a lesson by having a super low divorce rate?

Seems like not getting married is the best option. My girlfriend brings up marriage every once in a while but I’ve told her that were only getting married if it makes sense. We both have good jobs and have healthcare covered, so whats the point of a piece of paper that puts risks of “taxes, lawyer fees, money spent, splitting up the house etc into our lives? what so we can have a little party with some music and food? So she can wear some expensive dress?
