이란의 석유와 밀접한 관련이 있는 프랑스가 미국의 악의축 발언에 불쾌해 한것도 있고… 어차피 국제정세는 자국의 이익을 최우선으로 두고 움직이는데, 유럽과 미국이 손잡고 중국을 고립시키려 할까요? 중국을 고립시킨다는 건 투자한 돈을 죄다 버리는 것과 마찬가지인데, 그런 짓 안하겠죠.

Iran’s insubordination with the world라고 하는데.. world가 아니고 UN이 더 정확한 것 같습니다. 중국이 Tibet을 박해하지만 러시아는 체첸을 이스라엘은 팔레스타인을 역시나 박해하고 있죠. 특별히 중국을 지목해서 보이콧하기에는 어렵지 않나 하네요. 그리고 중국 제품을 보이콧하게 되면 아마도 세계 경제가 바로 아작나지 않을까 하네요.

미국애들 생각인 것 같은데, 역시 naive 하네요.. 미국이라고 떳떳하지는 않죠. EU도 마찬가지고..

글쎄 과연 누구의 생각이 naive 한지는…. “미국이라고 떳떳하지는 안죠 EU도 마찮가지고…”라고 말해버리면 남의 악행을 지적할 수있는 주제는 어디에도 없는거군요?

대의명분을 갖다 붙였을때 그럴듯하게 보이느냐 그렇지 않느냐는 힘에 의해 좌우되는 거겠죠?

그 힘이라는것이 발언/집회의 자유, 감시/견제 시스템이 존재하는 민주국가의 것이냐 아니면 그런것 자체를 인정하지않는 단일정당이 통치하는 국가의 것이냐에 따라 큰 차이가 있지요. 미국이 뭘하든 우선 삐딱한 시선으로 바라보는게 요즘 유행인가 봅니다만 보편적인 관점에서 중국과 미국의 도덕성에는 분명 엄청난 차이가 있습니다.

자국 국민을 어떻게 다루느냐 하는 관점에서는 분명 미국을 중국과 비교할 순 없겠죠. 남한의 인권과 북한의 인권을 비교할 수 없는 것 처럼요. 다만, 외국을 상대할때의 미국의 도덕성이 중국의 그것보다 더 우위라고 말하긴 힘들지 않을까요? 도덕성이라는게 존재하는지조차 의문스럽기도 하구요.

“rogue state”–> what’s funnier than this joke of a book by a famed scholar of linguistics (the subject he should stick with) is that some people (usually Koreans, strangely enough) seems to hang on to every word out of his mouth. Probaby for the same reason why Korean students in the 80s worshipped Bruce Cummings and his revisionist views; a westerner that bitches on about west, namely the “big evil empire” that is United States.
A lot of times Koreans have the tendency to jump on a bandwagon too late, and ride it along with such ferver while everyone had gotten off (including the driver) some time ago.

미국이 딴나라에 어떤 짓을 해왔는지 모르신다면. 공부좀 하시죠. 너무 많아 일일이 열거하기도 힘들 정도니. 물론 다 크게는 미국 국익을 위한 것이었으니 미국 국민들 입장에서야 이해가 갈 수도 있겠습니다만. 다른 사람 보기에는 그렇지 않죠. 간단한 예로 민주화를 위해 이라크를 작살낸 미국이 왜 사우디는 그대로 둘까요? 민주화 안된걸로 치면 사우디도 만만치 않은데. 또 남의 나라 민주화를 명분으로 한나라를 저정도로 엉망을 만들어도 되는 걸까요? 그렇게 민주화를 시키고 싶었다면 우리 박통이나 전똘때는 왜 우리나라를 작살내지 않았을까요?

Since you like personafying so much: The United States is as good as your rich neighbor can get. He’s sometimes insenstive, greedy, and he runs over your cat with his SUV; but he does a lot more good than he does ill. He is plenty sensitive considering his might and claims–probably the most sensitive and tame superpower that existed throughout human history. How is that possible? Because inside it, thousands of different voices, ideas and walues freely argue and contest each other every second. And because it is rich and powerful and ‘secure’ these voices can afford to hold high ideals unlike someone who’s riddled with inferiority complex and thinks everything wrong with him is because of the U.S. Lastly, I don’t think there is a such thing as American-only interest.
