TITLE: Lead Automotive Powertrain Controls Project Engineer
JOB LOCATION: Pontiac, Michigan
POSITION TYPE: Full-time/Regular

Our client company is located in Pontiac, Michigan and manufactures industrial machinery. This organization primarily operates in the Assembly Machines, Including Robotic business / industry within the Industrial and Commercial Machinery and Computer Equipment sector.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Controls project Engineer will be responsible for supporting in the design and development of systems, components and assemblies, as well as for ensuring overall quality and reliability. The Controls Project engineer will be heavily involved in overseeing the PLC programming and the wiring installation of equipment on the plant floor, and acting as the liaison between the Parent company in Korea and our US customer. The position calls for strong work ethic, flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with all levels of internal and external management and staff, as well as outside clients.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: Powertrain Assembly Equipment Wiring Installation Management and Support
• Ability to lead the procurement/launch of new and major program for controls engineering
• Provide support during all stages of Equipment Installation at the Company in Michigan, including issue analysis and reporting, setup and adjustment of wiring and equipment, and communicating and meeting with customer to address and report on status of installation.
• Maintain working contacts with customer, the Company in Michigan and the Parent Company in Korea, keeping all lines of communication open and transparent.
• Stay abreast of new controls technology, including robotics, computer graphics, and computer controls (CNC, PLC, PC, HMI, networks)
• Propose and evaluates manufacturing processes and equipment
• Manage deployment of new technology to minimize risks
• Support and actively interact with manufacturing operations group
• Continuously improve quality, cost, responsiveness & safety
Head controls engineer for the Company in Michigan: required to direct, lead and train entry level PLC programmers

EDUCATION:
• BS degree in Applied Science, Programming, or related field, from a 4-year college or university; or 3+ years of related experience

EXPERIENCE:
• Must have proven Siemens Programming Experience; PLC, Drivers, Servo’s Safety PLC’s, ProfiNet, Networking controls, HW and architecture
• Powertrain Assembly line engineering experience and a good working knowledge of powertrain assembly line operation.
• Problem Solving and Resolution
• Knowledge of controls Technology, including robotics, computer graphics and computer controls (CNC, PLC, PC, HMI) Rockwell PLC programming
• Superior oral and written communication skills and a focus on client service, together with the ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative while maintaining high confidentiality.
• Demonstrated ability to lead installation activities for a new and major project
• Demonstrated ability to run off machining and assembly equipment at the OEM’s and plant
• Working Knowledge of FAST and FACS systems and setting up the system configuration.
