Job Summary:

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a qualified candidate to serve as Web portal specialist for a two-year, fixed term, exempt, renewable appointment based in Washington, DC. Under the supervision of the Division Director of the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Division, the successful candidate will work with a team of other senior researchers in the IFPRI headquarters in Washington, DC and at the IFPRI-Dakar Office and will be responsible for developing various web portals with Content Management System under MTID.

Essential Duties:

Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Developing new modules in Drupal 6 and 7 and updating existing modules.
• Creating a new Drupal instances based on requirements of research project.
• Migrating the current Drupal instances into the new version.
• Security-updating the current Drupal instances.
• Administrating to Linux and Window System.
• Supporting administrating the Amazon AWS.
• Generating log analysis report of Web portals and provide solutions to improve the portals.
• Implementing APIs from various databases.
• Implementing JavaScript based data visualization fed by APIs.
• Documentation on system specification and user manual.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related fields.
• Fluency in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, JQuery UI, Ajax, Bootstrap, HighChart, PHP, and Dojo.
• At least three (3) years developing modules/themes in Drupal and LAMP performance and configuration.
• At least three (3) years hands-on experience directly related to Linux (Centos) and Window System Administration, including installation and maintenance of software and hardware.
• At least three (3) years of solid knowledge of MySQL and proficiency with other databases including SQL server and Oracle.
• At least three (3) years working on Apache Solr engine.
• At least three (3) years developing JavaScript-based data visualization.
• At least one (2) years developing REST APIs written in Java.
• Proven history of delivering complex technology solutions to meet research goals.
• Strong time management skills and interpersonal skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and deliver products on time.
• Ability to communicate across all levels of management, staff, and clients\users in order to exchange information, ideas, and answer inquiries.
• Strong written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with JAVA-based web applications.
• Experience with Android-app development.
• Experience with IIS, Tomcat and JBOSS.
• Experience with implementing applications using ArcGIS server and desktop.
• Experience with SQL server and Oracle.
• Experience with XML.
