Position Title: Category Manager-Asian Products
FLSA Status: Salary, Exempt
Reports to: General Manager-PSBU
Location: Fullerton, California
Position Objectives:
· Ensure comprehensive marketing strategy for assigned Categories.
· Lead cross collaboration and communication between all levels and departments at Pulmuone USA.
· Provide outstanding service to Pulmuone USA and its customers, vendors, and employees.
Responsibilities: Duties include but not limited to the following:
- Develop and maintain a 3 year category strategy to support growth and profitability targets. Include strategies that: 1) protecting the core, 2) attacking the competitors core, 3) the big WIN (ex., new product category, new process innovation, new packaging innovation).
- Support the category growth strategy thru consumer, market & brand understanding.
- Define brand strategy including consumer communication and brand building.
- Manage and facilitate innovation within the new product idea pool.
- Drive the New Product Development process.
- Manage product lifecycle including sku rationalization.
- Perform competitor analysis and develop defensive/offensive plans to account for learning’s.
- Research and track market and competitive trends to remain abreast of category developments. Lead discussions that help to encourage the entire Innovation team to think of the next big WIN.
- Set and manage P&L targets for Brands by channel, including new pricing for individual skus.
- Determine what consumer research and data is needed for category & channel – plan, execute, and analyze.
- Develop annual marketing budget (incl. TE/ME) and be held accountable for the results.
- Create monthly updates for management to understand the category past, present, future.
- Communicate product line direction and knowledge to internal and external partners.
- Ensure cross-collaboration in development projects to include all Departments.
- Manage direct reports with training, reviews, career
- Travel to production facilities and key trade shows as required.
- Other key projects as assigned.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Food industry experience preferred
- Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience (CPG industry a plus)
- Understanding of P&L statements
- Strong MS Office skills, with emphasis on Excel
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner and meet deadlines
- Comfortable with flexibility/multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
- Decisive and proactive in issue resolution
- Analytical/Problem solver
- Proven skills and experience in product development process
- Ability to work independently and to create teams across departments/functions
- Bilingual: English & Korean
