We are looking for an experienced financial applications developer
ideally
with an understanding of corporate credit to lead development of
innovative
applications covering a full range of business applications,
from portfolio
and risk management to operations to client products. The
ideal candidate
would have strong grasp of investment processes and min
4 yrs of
applications development experience, advanced degree in
computer
science/related engineering, and relevant experience in asset
management
industry.

We want a hands-on individual, with relevant
development, data and
business experience, who can think broadly and
creatively, and then act
co-operatively to guide the overall technology
process.  We want someone
who could potentially assume a leadership role in
the firm with respect
to technology and applications
development.

The position entails:

•     working closely
with business areas such as Risk, Operations,
Portfolio Management, Client
Service in order to understand business
methods and objectives;

•    
in-depth interaction with Research to re-conceptualize business
objectives
and processes into appropriate technology; and

•     supporting the
implementation of technology and its integration
into business
processes.

The application development process is viewed as a team
exercise
between Research and Applications Development, with the active

participation of the relevant business areas.

Acceptable
candidates would be able to fully grasp the business
processes and
theoretical models, assist in the overall design of the
application
including data processes, and actively support the business
users during and
after implementation.  The ideal candidate would have
demonstrated
experience and success in such activities.  Good
interpersonal skills and
teamwork are critical.

 From a technical standpoint, we would
expect the following
qualifications:

•     Must be able to
hand code HTML 5 and JavaScript (5 yrs)

•     Javascript Libraries (e.g.
jQuery)

•     DOM scripting (5 yrs)

•     Very strong CSS
skills

•     Strong AJAX/Web app skills

•     Experience
with the following a plus:

o     Java/JSP

o    
PHP

o     Database. i.e. MS SQL Server and MySQL

o    
Design-heavy, data-intensive, front-end and charting tools

o     familiar
with mobile development (smart phone and tablet)
