Our client company ( Automotive R&D company) is currently looking for a TAX ACCOUNTANT working out of the Headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI.
Job Title: Tax Accountant

• Manage the MEGA tax credit and the Research Tax Credit.
• Implement and maintain SAP accounting software.
• Enforce and improve internal controls.
• Manage the corporate tax return and tax provision and daily cash flow.
• Monitor, mentor and train accounting and payroll staff and assess training and development needs.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage and calculating MEGA Tax Credit – must understand tax law requirements and meet compliance deadlines.
Calculation performed monthly, reported to state annually.
• Manage and calculate Research Tax Credit – must understand the requirements and meet compliance deadlines. Consult with
outside accounting firm on regulations and requirements for Federal credit.
• Develop requirements for SAP implementation. Consult with SAP on updates, improvements, and enhancements. Test sof
ware as needed to ensure implementation progress.
• Monitor, mentor and train payroll and accounting staff; assess their daily workload, abilities, project progress and availability.
• Set up, enforce and improve internal controls by recognizing weaknesses and implementing better system and human con
trols.
• Sign off on the company’s operating and project travel expenses; enforce signature requirements and budget controls.
• Manage audit and tax return preparation by answering financial questions and preparing required reports. Estimate monthly
sales tax & use tax based on state requirements.
• Manage corporate tax return, tax provision, quarterly corporate tax estimation
• Manage daily cash flow by assessing cash needs based on outstanding loan, outstanding checks, and current cash balances.
• Discuss data with controller and take direction.
• Assess skills of the accounting and payroll staff and research the proper training needed in order to improve their skills and
abilities and make recommendations to Controller.
• Review account reconciliations, review accuracy of the purchase order data entry prior to releasing, assist in planning and
monitoring of department budget, and create and present technical reports as assigned.
• Perform administrative functions such as purchasing requests, timecard, vacation requests, travel requests, etc.
• Travel up to 5% of time.Qualifications and Requirements
• Expert knowledge of Accounting principles and practices
• Expert knowledge of the company’s internal payment process and controls
• Knowledge of Federal and State Corporate Tax law
• Knowledge of cash flow management
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity and ethical behavior
• Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines with changing requirementsEducation and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 4~5 years experience in financial accounting, audit and tax for large enterprise
• 3 years experience in tax credit research
• 5 years experience supervising staff
• Experience working in culturally diverse team environmentRequired Skills
• CPA preferred
• Expert SAP skills, MS Excel skills; proficient MS Word, PowerPoint, OutlookBenefits
