    About the Korean Cultural Service New York

    Inaugurated in 1979 under the auspices of the Korean Consulate General in New York, the Korean Cultural Service works to broaden understanding of Korea and Korea-U.S. relations through cultural and academic activities. The Cultural Service sponsors and hosts many different types of activities, including art exhibits, film screenings, traditional Korean music and dance events, Korean food festivals, lectures, youth activities, and sporting events. The Cultural Service also provides information on Korea – U.S. relations and assists exchange programs between the two countries.


    Job Description

    · Write/edit all official English-language materials including, but not restricted to, press releases, speeches, letters, bi-monthly newsletters, program notes, etc.

    · Maintain contact lists including VIP lists, media lists, general email list

    · Act as a contact person between the general public, cultural institutions and the Korean Cultural Service New York

    · Research, recommend and implement marketing & publicity strategies to broaden the audience for Korean Cultural Service New York programs, including media outreach, promotion, advertising & more

    · Research topics of interest to the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism, as directed

    · Act as emcee/public face of Korean Cultural Service New York at major events

    · Maintain files of Korean Culture related articles published by the American media

    · Additional miscellaneous duties as required to assist the Korean Cultural Service New York in its mission to promote awareness of Korea & Korean culture


    Requirements

    · Must be a native English speaker (no exceptions!); bilingual with Korean preferred

    · Excellent writing & public speaking skills

    · B.A. in English, Journalism, Communications, International Relations or related field

    · Experience with Microsoft Office

    · High degree of interest in Asian/Korean culture


    Additional Information

    · Work at the Midtown Manhattan office full-time, Monday-Friday, 9 am to 5 pm some overtime required

    · No telecommuting

    · One year contract position with three-month trial period

    · Paid vacation

    · Limited reimbursement towards health insurance expense

    · Compensation is commensurate with experience
