Position Summary:
The incumbent is responsible for the performance of intermediate level engineering duties for the proper and proactive testing and evaluation of wireless products – mobile station equipment — and related accessories primarily at customer locations. Performs tasks as a journeyman field engineering representative for STA and US customer quality assurance, lab teams using customer relations sensitivities and skills to proactively test, adapt and facilitate the adaptation of the product into client’s product delivery infrastructure.Essential Duties And Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned. In this position, either directly or through others, the incumbent will:
• Use intermediate level technical engineering knowledge and experience to lead and oversee subordinates in using established engineering and field service skills and knowledge to test and evaluate new Wireless Products and Accessories, including the verification of product features by simulation and/or reproduction of errors and complaints of Wireless products.
• Interface proactively and effectively with corporate Korean manufacturing engineering teams, US support team and lab members, STA, SEC, various client carriers and infrastructure company’s engineering personnel.
• Leads or guides Field Service Engineers in the performance of complex, semi-routine and routine application tests, including those at customer locations, to evaluate user interface software for quality, standards performance, functionality conformance and adaptation to insure the interoperability of system products.
• Make recommendations to management personnel or product development engineers on corrective actions required and effectively adapt solutions agreed upon in a timely manner to ensure correct and effective product launches and installation.
• Oversees subordinate proofing of new or adapted technical and/or user manuals for clarity and accuracy and reviews for general accuracy.
• Compile results and write required equipment engineering reports, test plans and follow-up procedures to ensure that STA Wireless Product comply to CDG Standards.
• Supervises other Field Support personnel, engineers and Product Development Team members when field service project require such lead activities and engineering skills.Background/Experience to qualify for this position, the following minimal background and skill levels are required:
• A Bachelors Degree in engineering or related electronics technical training from four-year college or university or heavy related on the job training at a significant level.
• Have between 0-2 years technical or telecommunications engineering related experience.
• Must be able to read, analyze and interpret technical journals and procedures.
• Must be familiar with calibration and operation of RF equipment, such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers, communication test sets, cellular and PCS interfaces/simulators at a lead or supervisory/teaching level for training and evaluation of Field Service Engineers.
• Should have a professional affiliation with the I.E.E.E.(Engineering Society)
• Technical communications and language skills in mathematics, vectors, complex numbers, and logarithms.Necessary Skills/Attributes for this position the following skills and abilities must be demonstrated at a proficient level:
• Develop and maintain excellent leadership skills including proactive, customer service oriented working relationships with all appropriate levels within and outside the company.
• Plan, organize, assign and prioritize multiple engineering support assignments and projects as directed by the manager of the group and/or other departmental officers.
• Read, interpret and act on very high level of proper understanding of technical documents, engineering test materials and contracts or related documents based on corporate legal and sales/engineering standards and philosophy.
• In customer service related situations demonstrate very high competency level in communication skills using both oral and written modes for internal and external personnel at all management and staff organizational levels for both persuasion in sales decision activities and/or the communication of technical information. Must be able to communicate in writing, through email and reports, or orally complex technical matters to an audience that may include less technically oriented or listeners.
• Work independently and in a team environment as the lead/senior engineer, in order to achieve personal and team goals and complete assignments within established time frames.
