The Department of State released the latest Visa Bulletin for October 2007 on September 11. Fortunately, we see big improvements after the July visa bulletin debacle. Although USCIS reportedly received about 200,000 employment-based I-485 applications in July and August, there is a big change in the visa bulletin for EB-1. The cut-off dates for EB-1 become “current” for all chargeability areas.

The following are cut-off dates for employment-based immigration petitions. Dates in the parentheses are cut-off dates for September 2007.

For people born in mainland China:
    EB1: Current (January 1, 2007)
    EB2: January 1, 2006 (January 1, 2006)
    EB3: September 1, 2001 (Unavailable).

Cut-off dates for people born in India:
    EB1: Current (January 1, 2007)
    EB2: April 1, 2004 (April 1, 2004)
    EB3: October 1, 2001 (Unavailable).

All chargeability areas except China, India, Mexico and Philippines:
    EB1: Current (January 1, 2007)
    EB2: Current (January 1, 2007)
    EB3: August 1, 2002 (August 1, 2002)
