Recently, regarding biometrics appointments, there seems to be vast differences in how Nebraska and Texas schedules biometrics. For example, for adjustment of status requests filed to Nebraska and relocated to Texas applicants are called for biometric collection immediately. For adjustment applications retained by Nebraska, no biometric appointments are scheduled initially or within 75 days. This difference persists even though Nebraska adjudicates and completes related EAD (I-765) and Advance Parole (I-131) requests for the pending I-485 requests. Why is there such a dramatic difference in biometric collection between Nebraska and Texas Service Centers? What is the significance of this discrepancy?

Here are the answers from NSC:

NSC experienced a backlog by the contractor in receipting I-485 and associated I765/I-131 cases. The biometrics notice does not get generated until shortly after the receipt
notice goes out. The issue has been addressed with NSC’s contractor, and they are actively working to eliminate the backlog. This issue should be resolved by the end of November, and should not occur again. Texas has been receipting in their EB485 cases within 24 hours of receipt, thus the more timely generation of biometrics notices.
